The Four Realms
Where Myth, Memory, and Strategy Meet
10/30/20254 min read
Every world has the stories we tell about it, and the stories that sit underneath those. The Realms belong to the second category. They feel old in the way a childhood memory feels old. Familiar, but not entirely accurate. Recognizable, but slightly out of place, like something you once knew and only now remembered differently.
The Realms are not continents or maps. They are self-contained worlds that take shape from the deeper structure behind our own. Each Realm reflects a single idea that is woven into how people think, feel, and move through life. They are grounded in something real, even if they appear in a form that feels surreal or slightly distorted. Think of a dream that borrows from real places, then rearranges them into something with clearer meaning.
A Realm is a mirror world. It expresses one facet of our hidden architecture and responds to the person who enters it.

A Realm is a space you will interact with during play. It is not a floating idea or a piece of lore that sits in the background. It is a full environment, and the way it behaves depends on how you play the game.
Think of a Realm as a world that reflects a single mindset or underlying structure. When you enter a match tied to a specific Realm, the atmosphere shifts in a way you can feel. Colors, pacing, tension, and even the tone of the mechanics adjust to match the idea that Realm represents. Some Realms feel calm and methodical. Others feel energetic or unpredictable. None of these effects are random. They come from the core principle each Realm is built around.
A Realm is part world and part interpretation. It reacts to your decisions and creates a setting where your strategy gains a different kind of weight. If you tend to play with long-term planning, the Realm begins to match that. If you rely on instinct or rapid reactions, the environment answers in its own way. You are not only making choices inside a Realm. You are shaping it while you play.
✦ What makes a realm a realm

Your decisions create measurable patterns. The game reads these patterns and uses them to influence the Realm you are playing in. This is not hidden or symbolic. It is something you will actually feel in the flow of a match.
If you play with precision, the Realm may start favoring clarity or stability.
If you lean into risk, it may shift toward volatility.
If you change your approach mid-match, the Realm records and adjusts with it.
You are, in effect, creating a profile through your choices. The Realm then uses that profile to determine how the environment responds. Some reactions are subtle, like a shift in rhythm or pacing. Others are more direct and may affect the tools available to you in the moment.
This is why each match feels personal. You are not just playing “in a world.” You are playing in a world that is paying attention.

There are four Realms because four gives enough room for completely different styles of play without overwhelming the experience. Each Realm represents a specific approach to thinking, reacting, and making decisions. These aren’t moral choices or elemental archetypes. They are states of mind expressed as environments.
The Realms are ancient in origin, at least within the mythology of the world, but they are shaped in ways that feel familiar. They echo patterns we already recognize in ourselves, which is why each one carries a sense of meaning the moment you encounter it.
I will introduce each Realm individually in the next post, along with its mood and general identity. For now, it is enough to know that the Realms are four different ways the game understands the choices you make.
✦Why there are four realms

Love playing with different textures, the rough gold foil and acrylic paints, against the softer watercolor. Makes it seem like worlds bleeding into each other.
Made a mistake on my sketch book and just ran with it. Liked the emerald green color with the weird orange moon/sun?
